Why Hire Professional Printer Repair?
If you have a business-class printer, you’ve probably also had issues with your printer jamming or other issues at the most inopportune times.
We put our business printers through the ringer on a daily basis, so it makes sense that they need a little more TLC to keep working reliably over time.
What are your options when your printer displays a dreaded “error” message?
You could fix it yourself, but if you don’t repair it correctly, it could cost you more money in the long run. The other option is to hire a professional company for printer repair.
What goes into a printer assessment when the professionals are called? At MCS, we have a solid process that takes into account the price and value of your machine vs. the cost of labor. Here’s how it works:
If you think your printer needs repairs, instead of paying for a full hour of service to simply have your printer looked at, MCS offers a $25 printer assessment fee. Our technician will diagnose the issues and let you know if the machine can be fixed along with an estimated cost of repair, including parts and labor. When a repair does make sense, MCS will apply this $25 printer assessment fee toward the first hour of labor.

Printer Repair Tips and Tricks
Tired of not being able to rely on your printer?
Tired of not being able to get clear documents when you need them?
We understand your frustration. We can help make your life a little easier. Repairing your printer on your own can save you money, but having the pros fix it will save you many potential headaches.
Before you call in the experts, try these tips first:
- Lagging printer speed – Make sure your firmware and drivers are up to date. If you have a wireless printer, try moving closer to the router to improve your signal.
- Reduced print quality – Your print head could be blocked. This usually happens when you don’t use your inkjet printer frequently, which causes ink to dry. Try cleaning the print head and testing it again.
- Printer doesn’t work at all – Check to see if you have an error message and try fixing that first. Next, try rebooting your printer and computer. If that doesn’t work, ensure that all your cords are inserted correctly. If your printer is wireless, try restarting your router; there could be a problem with the signal. Some printers have a built-in troubleshooting system you can try if nothing else works.

While some repairs can be done DIY-style, others will require parts and a technician. When labor costs are involved, the bill for repair can quickly skyrocket.

DIY Printer Repair Tips
We get lots of calls from customers and frustrated business owners alike who are having trouble with their printers. Printer problems always seem to appear at the worst time!
If you’ve got an important presentation or meeting on the schedule, you don’t have time to wait for a printer repair technician to come out.
Here are a few of the most common print issues we hear about and how you can fix them:
- “My printer won’t print!” – Before you panic, check to see if your printer is communicating properly with your computer. If it isn’t, it may be that you need to update drivers or firmware. A pending Windows update might be the cause too, so install any updates, shut down your computer, and try again. Instructions for driver updates can be found on the manufacturer’s website (HP.com, Brother.com, Epson.com, etc.).
- “My printer says I have a paper jam, but there’s nothing in the tray.” Often, this can be fixed with some canned air and blowing the machine out. There may also be a piece of paper inside the printer that ripped off and is stuck – you might need a flashlight to see it. Take the paper out of the tray, open all flaps, and look inside.
